WPC 2014 – Mobile-First & Cloud-First World

A number of the Zynstra team have spent the last week in Washington DC at Microsoft’s Worldwide Partner Conference (WPC 14) and what a week it was!

Over 15,000 delegates from around the globe descended upon Washington DC. From the crowds around the exhibition hall to the keynote sessions and networking events, WPC yet again proved to be the event to attend in the tech industry.

Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella set the scene for the next 12 months presenting Microsoft’s vision: A mobile-first and cloud-first world. Zynstra were at the heart of the conference, with the end of support for Windows Server 2003 Zynstra’s Cloud Managed IT Appliances were positioned as the opportunity for transformation for both partners and the SMB sector.

A fantastic week with thought provoking conversation, here are some of the highlights from WPC14.

Commitment to Hybrid Cloud

Throughout WPC14 there were many sessions and conversations around Hybrid Cloud and how Microsoft is committed to working with partners and businesses to drive success. Simply put, its part of Microsoft’s Core.

As presented in context by Satya Nadella: “It’s time. For us to reinvent productivity.

HUGE opportunity for Windows Server 2003 refresh

A topic on everyone’s minds and certainly on everyone’s ‘to-do’ lists!

For businesses still using WS 03 servers the countdown has begun. On 14 July 2015, support will reach end of life, meaning no more updates, patches or support leaving businesses vulnerable to enormous risks.

Jim Ganthier, VP Global Marketing, HP Servers presented an excellent session where he outlined the scale of this – don’t delay it’s time to act now.

Clearly Zynstra is very well positioned to address this significant market opportunity through our partner network and supported by HP and Microsoft. If you want to learn more, let us know and we’d be happy to take you through this.

Incredible innovations

One of the most exciting outcomes of this year’s WPC, is what seems to be a countless number of truly remarkable innovations. One of our favourites had to be the Skype Translator, which provides real-time voice call translation with incredible accuracy. This will once again open up the global opportunity for both business growth and personal connectivity.
